Autism Spectrum Disorder Facility, Enniscorthy VC Wexford

This ASD Facility has four classrooms that are orientated around a central activity area at the centre of the building. A single storey circulation corridor wraps around the central activity space allowing access to the classrooms without interfering with the use of the central space.

This was one of the first educational projects to commence under the new Building Control (Amendment) Regulations (BC(A)R). O’Leary Sludds Architects as a registered architectural practice we appointed for the roles of Design & Assigned Certifiers.

To overcome the issue of integration and reverse integration the school is proposing to use one of the new ASD classrooms as a mainstream class when occasion allows. They also hope to use the central activity area for art classes and various social events and clubs. 

Every ASD facility is allowed a fit-out allowance for loose & fitted furniture. We offered the client a turnkey service and were responsible for all the loose and fitted furniture within the facility including the specialist fit out of the multi-sensory room.
